NYCtaper has released an authorised bootleg of Dirty Projectors’ 11 Sept show at Terminal 5. It’s a beautiful document, fuller sounding than the Bowery Ballroom one from almost a year ago. The set was different too, including the entire Bitte Orca album on shuffle, as well as several songs previously unheard on live recordings of this quality. On standouts such as I Will Truck and Beautiful Mother, the audience response is testimony to DPs’ enduring capacity to thrill - an attribute arguably more common to practitioners of other musics, such as metal or teen pop, than indie/alternative.
Dirty Projectors: September 11, 2010 Terminal 5 - Flac and MP3 Downloads (nyctaper)
NYCtaper encourages anyone enjoying their recording to support Dirty Projectors - and what better way than by picking up the expanded edition of Bitte Orca, released next week. Your non-expanded copy would make an excellent recycled Christmas present. If you can’t afford it, check back here in a week or so for this site’s first ever competition.
The T5 show also got the Brooklyn Vegan treatment, with photos not just of the headliners but of the merch stand, support Owen Pallett, audience members and even a couple of security staff. For some pro photos from T5, see here. The photo above is by Johnny, who recorded T5 for NYCtaper.
Other important things you need to know - the Milwaukee Express has a short interview with Dave and last weekend I heard the Rusko/Amber song playing on the in-store stereo at TK Maxx.
